It’s hard to believe that ten years ago on this very day we launched the Pimps at Sea franchise, our innocent sails optimistically unfurled with course set for terra incognita. And here we are, still riding dirty on the high seas, spinners brilliantly spinning in the crisp moonlight, lighting our way towards fame, fortune, and a corner to call our own.

Today, in celebration of this momentous milestone, we offer you the first look at the bold, new direction for the beloved Pimps at Sea franchise. No doubt the market has changed dramatically since we first embarked back in April of 2001, and the open waters are forever littered with the sunken hulls of abandoned projects that failed to bring innovation to the marketplace. But even though we’ve yet to make landfall, we’re still seaworthy, and we’re finally ready to claim new lands in the name of Pimps at Sea.

Before we dig into the multimedia assault, here’s COO and trans-media marketing guru, Pete Parsons, to help us set the stage:

“You know, for the past twenty years Bungie has prided itself by only making kick ass games that we want to play, but I was talking to Mark Zuckerberg yesterday – who just so happens to be a really close friend of mine – and he said Facebook has something like 500 million users. I’m thinking if we can get one dollar from every one of those guys, we can easily make a billion dollars.”

The world’s oldest business model, indeed. And at long last, we are proud to present to you the latest entry in the most anticipated gaming franchise of all time. Ladies and Gentlemen…welcome to PimpsVille.

In PimpsVille players control their very own slice of the vibrant port city of Los Angeles. Visit friendly neighborhood corners, exchange a variety of classy gifts, and earn the respect of your peers, by friendship or by force, as you climb the social ladder all the way from Perpetrator to Pimp Daddy.

Stake Your Claim

It might be the oldest profession in the book, but a modern era demands brand new Pimp Tactics. Manage an ever-growing stable of cash-strapped wenches, recruit loyal allies throughout the city to do your dirty work, and bribe law enforcement officials to increase Bling ROI.

Sell Your Wares

Collect and advertise millions of unique goods and services on your corner by harnessing the power of Bling and establishing high levels of Cred inside of a real-time urban economy simulation.

Buff Your Neighbors

Help your friends complete low-level tasks, earn respect, and accomplish meaningful milestones. Using your own personal social network, send additional “Johns” their way to earn decorations and collectibles for your own corner.

That's it for now, but don't worry. Our cannons are primed with powder and this is merely the opening salvo in what promises to be a hearty multimedia assault. Stay Tuned!

Halo 1 PC/Mac, and Marathon 2 XBLA players rejoice!

If you missed the news in the Weekly Update, (scroll down to the section with the orange block of game UI), players of classic Bungie games get a head start on making their Reach lobby appearance shiny by unlocking some special nameplate images.

Two of these need a few extra clicks on your part to become active, so we're letting you get started now - Halo 1 for PC/Mac, and Marathon 2: Durandal for XBLA. To unlock these emblems:

1. Make sure you're signed in to Bungie.net with the account that's linked to the gamertag you want to tie your Halo PC key to. If you tie it to one account, but only played Halo 2 and 3 on a different account, we CAN NOT help you combine them later to get the emblem for playing all 3. Choose wisely! Obviously, this also has to be the gamertag you'll play Reach with.

2. Visit your Bungie.net account page , then click the Game Settings tab, then the Nameplate Settings link below that.

3. Follow the instruction there to unlock your stuff!

4. Wait an agonizingly long 20 days until 9/14 when you get Reach and play it online

5. Return to the same Nameplate Settings page , where you'll be shown all the nameplates available to you, and you can choose one to use. Return there whenever you feel like changing things up.

6. Questions? Problems? Post here
