This game doesnt cater to casuals, COD players or competitive players. It doesnt cater to anyone.

Its agonizingly slow pace kills the game for most competitive/skilled players.

Its slow kill times kill it for COD players.

Its emphasis on teamwork and complex systems you must learn kill it for casuals.

It really seems like they failed to appease any section of the community with reach. With HCE, H2, H3 the game had that easy to learn difficult to master feel that made it easily accessibly but also allowed for a competitive community to form.

Reach seems like it will be very hard for new players to pick up with bloom ,AAs, and a huge emphasis on teamwork to the point where getting kills by yourself is very difficult. Its no longer a pick up the game and shoot people ordeal. People who are new to the game will get destroyed simply because they dont understand the basics of the game.

On the flip side that huge gap in skill doesnt seem to exist either. Its a very slow game that relies more on tactics than it does on skill. The problem is that the tactics are not THAT complex. Essentially everyone who "gets the game" will get stuck together and have a hard time breaking away.

How can you cater to someone who likes it?

Isn't that a good thing, because if you cater to someone who doesn't like it, then what's the point in that?

I lol'd.

Id be curious to hear what would make them complain. What could bungie have done to reach to make them not like it, because it seems like most of the people around here will drink up any kind of kool aid bungie whips up. Even if its -blam!- flavored.

I just think some people don't really care if it stays like Halo 3 and will accept a change in gameplay, although I don't particularly like Reach myself, I can understand if someone does like it and I don't claim that nobody likes it.

Well he is saying that anyone that likes it will accept anything Bungie throw at us, so there is technically nothing we can say to disprove that then, apart from if we hated the other halo games, which i don't, but love this one also - I've loved them all, but i wouldn't accept anything... I think Reach is brilliant so far and has lots of new features such as AAs that are really fun, and the new weapons are really cool, let alone the new game modes. So i guess this is just reinforcing his argument... but i saw a topic a second ago from a COD players perspective, and he really liked it, so...

You're talking about the multiplayer. I like Halo cause of the cool design, sweet music, and epic sci-fi story. I could care less about multiplayer.

QFT

I was thinking the same thing.

I think Reach is some social experiment by bungie to see if people will still buy it no matter how bad it is.

If Reach was made by any other company people would just talk about how much was wrong with it and wouldn't even think about buying it.

I'm buying it just praying that they fix the game, but I'll probably just end up selling it and wishing I could go back in time and play Halo 2 :(

You could care less about the Multiplayer? So you do care about the Multiplayer a lot and thus could care less, or simply a typing error?

Like suppose instead of multiplayer they had a slide show of the Master Chief trying on different hats. I'd be just as happy.

this game is a bit different than the other halos but why is that bad? i play cod and halo (by far halo is my favorite ...by a wide margin). people in cod cheat like crazy, and the quick kills are frustrating. people just "camp out' at certain points. that is not skillful play. it is a pain in the ass. in the cod games you just run around and try to whack people. i like that in the new halo that you have to out wit and out skill players. there is a good balance (for the most part. the dmr could use more balls)with the weapons. i like that you can't just shoot someone three time and they are dead.you wantto talk about killing game and ruining it. the two shots to a kill is very demoralizing and makes it hard to have good team play and teamwork. if everyone is killed quickly and goes to respawn points you team is whittled to nothing very quickly.

play cod.....you just pick a spot and go after people that walk by. that sucks! if you try to move on a location (such as in "domination") it is populated by "campers". this is not a fun situation. yes it may be fast game play.....but so what. it is fast and frustrating.

i love that i have to work with people to win. and this is coming from someone who usually does not have a person to team up with. i am at the mercy of my "pick up" team. in these pick up teams during the matchmaking alot of people do not have mics. this makes team play hard. but when you get a good crew..it is very satisfying to work together.

i for one am glad that it is not like cod. i think that the halo 3 gameplay was great. but we are all spartan IIIs now. not quite as powerful as the spartan IIs. that is why the elites are more powerful and why we have to work together to whack them.

i love the game and can't wait for the actual release. i think that most of the haters are used to a certain matrix for the game. they are more than likely players that mastered halo 3 multiplayer and are very good at it. i think that once people give the new matrix of gameplay a chance you will like it alot.

i hope that you guys and girls that hate it give it a chance for what it is. we are not spartan IIs so out skills are different. but that does not make it suck.

john
