Instead of digging through hundereds of threads, I linked the best of the very best, right here.

Yeah, you're not egotistical at all...
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
Lol you dont know what enhanced radar is because you dont play very much H3.

See, there you go again, demeaning a person based on how much they "play." Correction; I don't know what "Enhanced Radar" is because I don't play much MLG, which I can only assume is the only playlist who utilizes this element.

Even still, with your definition of it, this eliminates one very key factor to war and combat; STEALTH. "Flying under the radar," "Ghosting by." You know, being sneaky. If someone sneaks up on me because they're crouched and I'm confident enough in my Motion tracker that I don't feel the need to check my six; well then in my eyes that player deserves to have their patience and hard work rewarded with a gratifying assassination.
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
Personally, I think that the motion sensor is silly past level 35 in MM, because it is just a crutch.

/sigh... Why?
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
Crutches, bloom, AA, etc is FINE and GOOD for casual gameplay, but their MUST be a way to turn it off as it absolutely RUINS competitive gameplay.

You act as though Bungie has completely done away with that system, when there's nothing to indicate Custom Game's removal. In fact, with the confirmed inclusion of Forge, it's practically guaranteed. Your soap box is creaking.
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
You people really dont understand. Good players lock maps like this down.
Like THEY LOCK THAT -blam!- DOWN.

And it never occurred to you that the other team may be just as good? You know what happens in Chess when two highly skilled and intelligent players are pitted against each other? Often a STALEMATE. So you ran across a team just as "good" as you, and you weren't able to "dominate" them. Boo-frickity-hoo.
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
The game literally devolves into every single move a player makes being based on spawning of power weapons. The game becomes a game of chess.

The implementation of strategy (as the Chess analogy indicates) is a devolution.... how?
Posted by: WSJFGBSJLFGBvdjd
H2 had emphasis on power weapons but gameplay never came to a halt like it does consistently in competitive matches of reach.

Ah, and here we come to it yet again. Halo 2. I'm not even going to bother this time, you know.

I only post when necessary.

In h2, you could do three to the body and one to the head. Or two to the body two to the head. Or three to the head and then the fourth to the head.

Get educated

Thank you OP for putting together a well thought out and well worded thread.

I agree with you, Reach does not have the wow factor and excitment that the other Halo games gave me.

The movement rate of Spartans sucks, I dont feel like a super solider, I feel like an ODST wearing a Spartan Holloween costume.

Thank you for putting on the flame suit to express your opinion of the beta, most people on b.net havnt been around since CE days or even H2 and they dont see that Halo has been devolving not evolving.

I strongly feel that Reach will not have the replayability that H2 or even H3 had even with thier own little issues.

I will still buy a copy, but not the legendary copy that I preordered. I will most likely play through campaign, earn the achievemnts and only play when my friends beg me to carry them through games.

True skill is reliable enough for you to not be able to make the skill gap out as an excuse for dumbing down the game.

TruSkill is not a reliable system. It works well enough to put dedicated, less skilled players into a niche where they can't escape. A 29 will forever be a 29 if left to their own devices. That's good. It doesn't work so well when you put a more skilled player into the mix, because the game doesn't accurately track actual skill.

This is one of the things that Bungie seeks to rectify with the Arena, to put all of the hyper-competitive players into their own sandbox where they can't do harm to lesser skilled players. The problem with the Arena, in the beta anyways, is that the rating they use doesn't quite accurately reflect player skill. And as I mentioned before, Reach on the whole is geared more towards team play than individual play, which I think has greatly skewed the ratings. The Arena is another one of those things that could be great, but is held back from being something truly special because of a few flaws; One flaw is with the rating formula itself, with deaths not being weighted significantly. Other flaws come from the gameplay portion of Reach that create a skill cap which goes against the point of having an Arena.

There are no stalemates in Halo. There is a time limit to games that exist to prevent this, and last I checked MLG has their time limits set to 15 minutes for Team Slayer.

And, just because it's true:
Posted by: DONU7
And as always, it's high time for the thread to go on its course. I don't see why there's so many people who attack posters. I vote for a new forum system where it uses Youtube's style of comments. You can just "like" someone's damned post instead of posting "agree/disgree" and also add GameFaq's style of muting users so I could just mute a -blam!--load of people who are not contributing to the thread, the forum, or the game at all.

If anyone really wants Bungie to make Reach better, or keep it the same, or just in general take what you have to say seriously, then I have some A-class advice for you: Attacking someone based on their skill, attitude, or what have you adds literally nothing to the discussion. Everyone needs to put their meaningless ad hominems aside and move on. Senselessly arguing over the internet is quite childish.

Another definition of Stalemate is any position or situation in which no action can be taken or progress made; deadlock.

So if neither team is willing to take a risk that could result in their death, but create a large enough distraction for the team as a whole to make a tactical insertion, then the scores remain at 0, and once time expires it ends in a tie.

This is the problem that I see with many people who hold K/D as the most important indication of skill. In the event that a team has a room "locked down" and are covering all entrances, a player could charge in there with a power weapon. His purpose wouldn't be to get as many kills as he can, though that would be a bonus. Rather, if the opposing team breaks composure, they would focus on taking him out before the casualties become too great, and allow the rest of the opposing team to swarm in.

But of course, this kind of strategy would require a slowed-down gameplay, rather the "run-and-gun" we've gotten so used to. Tragic that the game hasn't slowed down a tad.

Oh wait...

Or its because the principle risk = reward no longer hold true.

Risk now = punishment.

When aggression is punished and whoever can camp the longest is rewarded, the game is broken.

You people accuse me of needing to learn to adapt, but I have adapted to the broken playstyle neccesary in order to succeed, and it isnt fun.

If it is advantageous to camp, of course Im gonna camp.

Camping IS NOT FUN.

Reach is no longer fun and intense.

This game should cater to everyone, not just people who like a random, slow paced, luck based game.

This game needs to be faster paced and more skill oriented.

I may not buy Reach on its opening day. Instead I will wait until I hear from some reputable sources that the gameplay is improved from its almost (imo) unplayable state before I think about shelling out my $63.

Thank God. I Agree with everything here.

The beta lacked any sort of "wow" factor for me. I felt deserted, if you will, and only played it for a couple days and then dropped it. Regardless, I could not have said it better myself OP. Somethings need to be changed or at least seriously considered.

And I cannot stress it enough but Armor-lock is abused too much or at least it is too powerful. You should not be invincible but shots should slowly eat away at your health effectively making the power up serve as a means to waste time hoping backup will come before you die.

If you dont believe me then you should have watched the beta population drop like I did.
Just a small note. Many of the people I talked to stopped playing mostly because of the lack of variety. Not because they didn't like it. All in all it was a very small amount of content.

The only problem i see with this game is the speed and pace of it. halo's 1 2 and 3 are so much quicker. Not just the movement speed and kill times, there was always a snap decision on which road to take, whether to run or fight, whether to jump up or drop down. I dont get that with reach, and i think if it was in reach the game would be a lot better

We are starting to have spurts of consistence.

Just another person incapable of moving forward. Go back to previous titles if you want to turn Reach into Halo 3.

Tim

I read the whole thing through..

But what i got from it, isnt what u wanted to explain..

what i got, is that you are cocky and are way too good for halo reach. You think Halo 2 is better than Reach. Um, what else.. oh and you want Reach to be Halo 2. (With better graphics) and, uhh you want them to change their game according to what a minority of people wants it to be.
