Needs to make noise when counting down to choose playlist, far too many times i'm not paying attention while its waiting to load a match only to panic when the 3 second countdown comes on to choose a game, often leaving me with stupid flag horde

I agree. I always forget to vote due to customization and s***.

Just voicing my love for the MVP and medals features from halo 3 that didn't carry over to the beta. It would be really nice to see how many sticks I got in the post game carnage report. Otherwise, i'm really impressed with everything.

I agree. I always forget to vote due to customization and s***.

And don't forget, make it so that if you don't vote your vote is not counted (so that the top option isn't always chosen).

it seems the forced matchmaking options dont work at all, my language should make all the people in the game in standard and all the people on my team in arena have the same language settings as me, and good connection should put me with people with very low pings, but i keep getting put on a team of people who speak french against a team of americans, who i have high ping to

edit: 09.05.10 (english version of date)
it seems like searching for good connection and language do nothing, getting germans, french americans etc all the time

Are you still there?

Postgame carnage reports should keep track of multiple same-type medals like Halo 3, i.e. the medal chest says I got 4 double kills that game, not just that I got at least one.

The badass announcer should say something like "START VOTING" or "CHOOSE A GAMETYPE" when a vote opens so people don't always end up with the default one. Other than that, it seems pretty cool.

About the voting -

Like in MW2 I think if you are tinkering in the Armory or other menus and its time to vote you should automatically be redirected to the vote/map screen.

I think the layout of everything is fine, I like how it navigates.

Well, i have an idea, add on a voice telling players to prepare to vote, or just add time or something to grab the player's attention.

I've accumulated a lot of posts in a related thread about implementing an age filter to further ensure that people will have a fun match. I won't link it here for fear of the banhammer, but it's out there.

I also think that the post game carnage report should list how many of each medal you earned. I too would like a more "logical" MVP feature. You know, not just the most kills, but maybe best K/D ratio.

People who don't vote automatically have their vote go to the first option. How about just not having their vote go towards anything if they don't select one.

I thought the same exact thing. The first map having all the default vote isn't good. People not voting shouldn't count as a vote anywhere.

The map with the most vote wins. In case of a tie, the first one that reached that number of votes is selected.

Nobody votes? First map in list is default and selected!

This isn't that much of a change I suppose and it would make it more interactive and pleasant for people who really want to play and know what they want to play.

(Thx for this official thread, I wanted to write that comment down but didn't bothered since I thought it would end up nowhere with the enormous quantity of trash topic being posted every minute)

I think that the veto system need to be relooked at. When it comes to choosing gametypes, I think that 1 Flag should never be the default choice. People in pre-game lobbies tend to switch into the menus and armory and forget to vote. As a result, a painful boring game of 1 flag almost always happens. I don't mind 1 flag. It is fun sometimes, but when it continuously appears, it can be awful.

Switch up 1 Flag and Slayer variants in the veto list and things will be better. People always enjoy slayer games. Good old fashioned "kill the other guy to win" stuff. At least then, when people forget to vote, everyone doesn't lose out.

The social settings seem to make very little difference, out of 10 games searching on my own with the Chatty option enabled I only got one game where my team had mics.

K/D is completely irrelevant in an objective playlist. The MVP would probably have to be universal over all gametypes. Most points scored, whether it be kills in a slayer match or flag captures in CTF, would be the best way to go.

Social preferences don't seem to work at all.

I suggest that if you have no microphone plugged in or are in party/private chat your preference is automatically restricted to "quite" players and people who search for chatty players should never match quite players.

I'd say..

Make an option to only be partied with people who use mics? Even though as I sit here typing this, I realize that would be a very difficult thing to do.. perhaps it can just be something to be thought about. I hate being put into a group of three people in party chat or three people with no mics.

IMO the most egregious problem with the voting system is the fact that the votes auto-selects the first option and thus people that are AFC/Not paying attention will get their vote counted towards the first game type.

Also changing your Matchmaking Voice Settings to Team Only always gets reset after you restart it. It was like this in Halo 3. Is it supposed to be like this?

well like xplay said you need to force new players to make a social setting otherwise just remove it because people will not spend the time to fill out a social list when they can just play the game.
