Have you made a well thought-out Topic, and would really like to communicate your idea to the community, but it just doesn't seem to get any posts? Send me a PM with a link and I'll come to your thread, give an honest response and, if needed, keep posting until it gathers attention. (no double-posting, though)
P.S. Only send me group invitations if you believe that your group is the worst group in the world and should be deleted and that you deserve to die. And are a terrorist.
Note: I'm only going to address issues that haven't been addressed by Bungie. If you're going to try and counter my points with an argument involving something about me being terrible, or that the game is fine, or that nobody cares, gtfo. Otherwise feel free to argue. I cherish it.
Let's begin, shall we?
1. Reticule bloom is kewl and purdy, but not really all that fun. I know you want us to calm down and pace our shots, but since when have people complained about being too accurate? Or about the game being too fast? I've never seen or heard someone complain about spamming shots in this game. These are super soldiers that can beat just about any non-shielded organism in existence to death with one punch, who can flip over tanks, who can rip turrets off their base while still being able to jump the same height, yet they somehow can't control the recoil of a puny little 7.62x51mm round. The AK47 uses it. The AR uses it. Why is it that when it's put into a longer-barreled rifle, that it suddenly kicks like a mule on methamphetamines? Which brings me to my next issue:
2. Now this is going to seem like a miniscule detail that's completely irrelevant, but when the canon of Halo is so detailed that is has its own encyclopedia, it's kinda ridiculous when two weapons share the same ammunition, but one does more than 3 times the damage with it. I mean, the DMR and AR both use the exact same round: the 7.62 x 51mm. Yeah, by modern standards, it kicks hard, and non-trained users may have some difficulty in firing weapons that use it. But the AR and DMR use it. Same exact round. No difference. It's not AP vs. Shredder. It is the exact same round. This is an easy fix. How did this get past whoever the hell comes up with the specs for the weapons, anyways?
3. Actually, movement speed and jump height seem fine, since you can always sprint or fly.
4. Make voting neutral at start of voting. Don't get me wrong, stockpile on powerhouse is great, but it gets old. Fast.
5. Maybe it's just me, but it just seems so much harder to kill people now. Lower accuracy, armor abilities, small clips, etc. I'm not saying that we should be doing more damage per shot, or stuff like that, but maybe at least give the pistol and DMR a clip extension. 2 rounds for the pistol. 3 for the DMR. If we count each burst for the DMR as 1 shot, both the DMR and BR can fire 12 shots per clip. While the DMR can hold 1 extra clip, it's kinda weird that since the DMR can fire about 3 shots for every 2 with the BR, yet the clip sizes are exactly the same. (like I said, dmr shot = BR burst) The BR has always been one of my favorite weapons. It was versatile, but one of the slowest killing weapons in the game. The community seems to have liked it, and I always seem to hear people brag about out-BR'ing someone than out-AR'ing them. Can you guys please do something to at least let us feel like badasses again? (don't even mention elites, evade makes them way OP; just cluster together and dish out walls of fire, and evade and swarm once an explosive or enemy gets close.
6. Inversely, while I can never seem to damage people, it might have something to do with the fact that I'm always being blinded by a wall of lead or plasma. Or explosives. Pick one, I don't really care, it doesn't make much of a difference how I die, the end result is the same. My best guess has to be the motion tracker. I know that there is no possible way this would go well with the community but it was bad enough for people to always know where I was horizontally. Vertically makes it ridiculous. Some may argue that it's necessary for people to be able to pick out where people are on the 5-story swordbase, but the motion tracker was never meant to be the swiss army knife of radars. It was a tool, yes, but you still needed situational awareness to make the most of it.
7. The AR. It seems to have gotten worse and worse by the games. In Halo 1 it was a close-medium range MACHINE. You needed great skill to use it effectively, but it had high dps and a big clip. Halo 2's smg's were okay, but not as starts. Halo 3's AR was good, and smackdowns were more satisfying than ever, but reloading became much more of a factor in battles. While it wasn't the most powerful, it proved a very devastating weapon in the hands of a skilled player who knew the inner workings of melee combat. Until you guys made simultaneous beat-downs and shield-checks, completely removing the point of learning to time the melee, partially closing the skill gap, that is. What I'm trying to say is that it wasn't the most powerful, but melee combat balanced it.
Now in Reach, it hasn't changed much (it does seem less accurate, but maybe that's just me) but since assault-smackdowns (both enemies fire and charge, get the melee in) have been completely eliminated with the old-fashioned simultaneous beatdowns and whatnot, plus the whole shield system (just like with reticule bloom, who got the idea in their stuck in their head that melee combat would be improved by making people simply punch eachother and kill eachother at the same time? Now the AR just kinda sucks, and only serves as a suppressive weapon to blind people with as your teammates use real weapons on them. Please for the love of god, if there was one change to be made, pick the shield system. If a shotgun blast can tear through shields, why can't my almighty supercharged fist?
Frankly, I'm growing weary of try to explain these things. I love Halo; it was the first shooter I ever played, and the one I have always been pretty good at. I was far from the best, but I could always beat everyone I knew. (except for some guy I know from forgehub who rocks at Halo, builds amazing maps, but sucks worse at Reach than me)
I rarely compliment myself, but going back into Halo 2 and 3, I can kick ass. With Reach (yes I know it has a learning curve, but I picked up Halo 3's AR just fine, and actually did amazing in the Beta for that, and did pretty well with Halo 3) I just can't seem to do well. I love all things Halo, but this game saddens me. I learned with Halo 3 to never doubt you guys, but damnit please don't let us down. Read through these rants. (the intelligible ones, at least) At least take our suggestions to heart.
I know you guys make games you want to play, but ultimately we're going to be the ones who get the most out of it. For once, could you guys focus on making a game that we'll want to play?
