My group of friends and I played Hang 'Em High about as much as anyone could, and I'm very satisfied with the way tombstone worked out. It could never be the same map, because it's a completely different game. You may as well ask for your favorite Quake maps to get ported for Halo 2, but there is no way it could ever be the same.
Tombstone, just like Hang 'Em High, is not great for multi-flag/bomb or neutral flag/bomb, it's an asymmetrical map with certain advantages and disadvantages for either team. It works just as well as the CE version with single flag/bomb, slayer, KotH, Oddball and almost any FFA gametype. If you can't seem to get from one side of the map to the other, then maybe I could suggest that your opponents are better than you? Now, there's no need to send me messages stating "OMFG, WTF I'll -blam-ing pwn U right now in 1V1." I'm sure you're Halo 2 skills are better than your grammar and punctuation....they couldn't be much worse.
Desolation looks like a fun, fast map, and it flows a lot better than derelict did. There are all sorts of ways to move yourself around besides the basic grav-lifts and the two ramps, you should spend some more time practicing your movement before you condemn the map as fundamentally flawed. All things considered, the guys at C.A. pulled off the remakes beautifully, and bungie even managed to make them available to Oldboxes as well as the 360 despite the technical nightmare that this caused.
For 4 dollars you can't hardly complain anyway. ....Now if I could just get them to remake Damnation and Boarding Action for Halo 3, then all would be right in the world.
