I posed this same question in my chapter, but Sketch suggested I bring it here and open it up. Do yo have an opinion on the subject?

I haven't been keeping tabs on the comic industry in the last ten years. The trends may have changed, and I'm sure there are newer, cooler artists out there than those I listed in the poll. Have you got a favorite? Why is that artist's work your favorite?

I really want to see something that can stand on its own merits and outlast the game that would be Halo 2. Something with a beginning and an end. Is that too much to ask? If money was not an issue, who would you hire? What kind of story would it be? Not what is in it, but what kind? Ten years from now, would you still keep this book? Even though you are burnt out of playing the game, or maybe you finally have kids and a family and you decide to do a clean sweep of your home. Would this book end up in the toss pile? Or would it at least go in the sell pile?

What would it be about a comic book that will make you keep it, share it with your friends, or even your progeny?

Cheers!

Geez you can ask ALOT of questions in a single post...look at you! Your a machine!

My fav artist would be Stan Lee, he has done great work in X-Men and Spider-man, just among the few...and I love Spider-man...I wish I could see the movie..the 2nd one.. I've seen the first.

A good comic would be funny and able to bring to life of current events..or sometimes past ones..I would hire Stan my main-man. I would ask him to prob make a great piece of work on maybe...MC..Like he would create a comic on all three books. Awesome...or maybe just put him in some PJs and make him fly and save lives..HA! That would be worth a good laugh. Heck, If so millionare made a good comic for me? I would most-likely keep it. I don't know about sharing my fan-fiction with my family (I don't have one right now! I swear!) and saying "Look, your old man loved that guy so much, he spent your college funds on it." Although if money were no problem? Then brag fest ahoy! Pimps at sea! Heh nice good post. Were you the ones that made the new desktops? I have that new one as mine right now...really great. You should have made the avartars///

Dave "2000AD/Doctor Who/Watchmen" Gibbons would rock, but I'm afraid I don't know much about comics and his is the only name I recognize without a Google search... so I'll just vote "Doesn't Matter, So Long As It's Cool".

Methinks I do...

I can see it now: "Halo: The Untold Adventures of the Master Chief"

... Or something with a different name than the worst title ever ^

Seeing as I only know one (since he did the artwork for Beneath A Steel Sky), I'm going to have to say Dave Gibbons.

I don't actually know any comic artists, so just draw it cool like your regular works.

Haha! Well, the topic is rather broad, no? But a "machine"? The PR and marketing guys here seem to think so. That or a 'miracle worker'. I should play it like Scotty and overestimate how long it's going to take me to do anything!

I guess since I'm really interested in the crafting of a story and in the making of a comic book that I'd be looking for something that would be the epitome of a comic book -- the kind that would be used as an example in a classroom scenario or something.
Heck, if some famous person made anything for me, I'd keep it too... Hmm.

I'm glad you like the new desktops. Zoe has been designing them lately, although sometimes the art in the desktop is mine. Zoe just prettifies everything. :)

Thanks for the response!

THere should be a contest or something :) Sounds like fine.

Play Myth, stay Cool...

I would ask Don Rosa make the comic. Why? Because he is one of the best drawers I have ever seen, and the way he puts small things into the story is just great... Every time you read one of his comics you find something you did not see last time.

Don't know his full name, but its something with Don Rosa, he just writes Don Rosa in his story's.

How the hell could I have forgotten about him! The mastermind behind Spawn (Best. Hero(well... Antihero). Ever!).... who's better? NOBODY!

Did he do all the artwork that went into it, or did he just write the comics?

I think a title with the word Infinite or Infinity would be best... You could have the figure-eight symbol of infinity interlaced with the Halo logo, somehow... That'd be neat, don't you think?

Heh, if a Halo comic were ever titled, "Halo Factor," I'd bet that it would start being called simply, "H-Factor."

-"Hey man, whatcha readin'?"
-"The H-Factor."

Heheheheheheh.

Good ol' Stuntmutt. LOL! The idea of a One-One-Se7en comic book makes the mind reel...

It's Gruntsbane doing the art for HaloBabies, right? http://www.halobabies.net/about/ If I've read that right...

-- Steve'd think that either comic would sell well... but looks forward to an official Bungie release too.

I may be wrong on this (and I'm certainly not trying to offend anyone), but Stan Lee never actually put pen to paper to create a single comic book as an artist. Stan was (and watch recent interviews for the words from Stan the Man himself on this) more the "Idea man" for many, many, many Marvel titles (my favorite, Spider-Man, included--and you must see Spider-Man 2! It rocks!). Stan has my utmost respect, you should know.
As for my vote, I give it to Alex Ross. His realistic style would be fantastic for the Halo universe, were money no object. Look at his work in the large size books on Superman,Batman, and Wonder Woman, and the "Kingdom Come" or, better yet, "Marvels" graphic novels. Ross tends to paint his covers, if not the entire work for the books he does. He uses models to get the right proportions and dimensions (Nightmare Armor, anyone?) and the results show the care and time he puts in.
Good to hear from a Bungie employee, Mehve. I can't wait to see the Halo 2 action figures and box art. Any chance we'll see another Halo 2 magazine cover before November 9th?
Anyway, keep up the great work.
